Our trip is to the ancient pyramid complex of Teotihuacan ("Teo") in central Mexico. Many hundreds of people have enjoyed and benefited from journeys to Teo over the last 10-15 years. Your leaders are experienced and caring teachers who will guide you through four full days of deep spiritual transformation. This journey is sponsored by Wisdom Groups in the Phoenix area, but others are welcome to attend if space is available. Although the cost for Wisdom Group members is $500-$700 less than than the usual cost for similar power journeys, it will include special activities which are not normally part of such trips - low cost, high impact! A "power journey" is a spiritual retreat, often held in a place of special significance. Teo is an ancient Mesoamerican site where spiritual and scientific leaders transformed themselves into higher states of awareness. It is the spirtual epicenter of the Toltec philosophy as practiced and taught by Miguel Ruiz, M.D., author of the bestselling book, The Four Agreements. Your leaders on this journey come from different spiritual paths, but all have been recognized by don Miguel as Seers: Masters of Awareness and Transformation. As with many other sacred spots around the world, Teo combines unique geographic features, sources of spiritual energy, and a tradition of esoteric work by thousands of people over thousands of years. Many people gain inspiration and feel powerful energy from the pyramids and centers of spirtual study located throughout the huge site. Others use the symbology of specific locations around the site to facilitate their process of tranformation. We will use mythologies from many major religious traditions in teaching universal truths and gaining personal insight, but we don't focus on any particular one. Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Jewish, or no religion at all, you will feel at home on this journey. What will a typical day be like? After a good night's sleep and delicious breakfast, we will have a brief class. Next, we walk or ride to the main grounds at Teo or some other selected site in the area. We will spend 4-6 hours in various activities, then travel together back to the Dreaming House. We will usually have an early dinner, a little free time, then a class in the evening. Although you will see many wonderful things, this is not a siteseeing trip - with a few exceptions, you will stay with the group as your teachers guide you through activities and practices which create maximum potential for inspiration and self-discovery. When the group is finished at Teo in the afternoons, you are free to stay longer, eat at local restaurants, and make your own way back to the Dreaming House (at your own expense). We simply ask you to commit to coming to classes and participating in all group activities. The altitude is above 7,000 feet and considerable walking and stair climbing is usual. Although temperatures are moderate year-round, the sun can be very intense. If your your health is reasonable, you should be fine provided you follow the recommendation of your teachers. What is covered in the fees and what is not? Included: All ground transportation and meals when the group is together. We will also provide you bottled water and soft drinks; meals may include some limited alcoholic beverages. Not Included: Airfare to Teo (currently about $360 total), meals and transporation when not with the group, snacks away from the Dreaming House, and souvenirs. Also, we suggest that you budget $15-25 (total) in tips for the Dreaming House staff and $20-$40 in tips for other situations. Note: If you run short of cash, you may be able to get more at an ATM in a local bank. To use the ATM you MUST have a credit card with a PIN number and there is a small service charge for the transaction. American currency (in smaller denominations) may be accepted by merchants, but we recommend that you anticipate your needs carefully and change your currency into Mexican money at the airport. Reserving your spot Cost: Wisdom Group members & families, $750 per person; optional extension, $125. For those not affiliated with Phoenix area Wisdom Groups, $1095 per person; optional extension, $225. Space is limited to only 14 participants - this will be a small, intimate group. Reserve your spot by sending a deposit of $150 per participant (add $50 for the extension) to: Katherine Roxlo Please make checks out to “Phoenix Wisdom”. Should you be unable to attend, your deposit will be refunded if another person can be found to take your place. For further information, please call Ron or Katherine at (602) 943-9044 or Rick at (480) 483-0712. Will I have a chance to shop and experience local color? Absolutely! First, you will have a unique opportunity to become part of Alberto's and Veronica's extended family. The Dreaming House is located in a small village on the outskirts of the grounds at Teo, so you will have the opportunity to work on your Spanish and sample scrumptious, traditional Mexican food (included). You will learn some basic Mexican customs, how to determine which local crafts and jewelry are authentic, and how to negotiate with vendors. Several trips will be made to San Juan, a local town with some interesting shops, an ATM machine, and a Wal-Mart (for anything you forgot to bring). In short, you will have more opportunities to experience local color than with the typical Teo power journey. May I come a day early and/or extend my stay? If you want to come early, you must arrange your own transportation from the airport and plan to stay at a local hotel. Your first night's stay at the Dreaming House will be September 7. We offer a one-day extension (Sept. 13 departure) for a cost of $125. Although we intend to spend this extension day visiting tourist attractions and shopping in Mexico City, you may opt to stay "home" and spend the time in individual study at Teo. If you are interested about this option, please contact us. More details will be posted here as we get closer - please check back frequently.
